SUMMARY:'Gut\, Liver and Friends' Seminar with Thomas Stiehl
DESCRIPTION:on Wednesday\, 08.11.2023 at 12:30 pm in UKA lecture hall 5\, Thomas Stiehl is the guest of our CRC1382 seminar series “Gut\, Liver and Friends”. \nThe title of his talk is: “Mechanistic computational models in the life sciences – applications and challenges“. \nThomas Stiehl is Head of the Institute for Computational Biomedicine and Disease modelling with focus on phase transitions between phenotypes. \n\nThomas Stiehl’s research focusses on stem cell dynamics in homeostasis\, regeneration and cancer. He develops mechanistic mathematical and computational models to understand the development and progression of stem-cell-driven diseases. His main field of research are malignancies of the blood forming (hematopoietic) system\, such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML)\, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). The models help to unravel the determinants of disease progression based on clinical data.
