On Wednesday, 18.12.2024 at 12:30, Florian Kahles will be the speaker of our ‘GutLiver and Friends‘ seminar.

Florian Kahles is Emmy Noether junior research group leader of the research group “Inflammation in cardiometabolic disorders” at the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine (Medical Clinic I) at RWTH Aachen University.

Inflammatory processes play an important role in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction and heart failure. It has been shown that inflammatory networks between the blood vessels, the heart muscle, the bone marrow, the spleen, the sympathetic nervous system and the intestine have a significant influence on the development and progression of cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases.

The focus of our research group is to better understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of these inflammatory networks in the context of organ cross-talk and to derive new immunological therapy targets from this.
