Research data management (RDM) activities at the CRC are supplemented by a data management specialist (50% position in the administrative project Q04). This role serves two main functions: Firstly, the data manager is responsible for the coordination and development of all data management efforts within CRC 1382. Secondly, the data manager serves as a link between the university’s RDM team and the CRC to ensure long-term compatibility of institutional strategies and CRC’s needs regarding data management and its underlying infrastructure.

“Organized data management is a strategic goal of CRC 1382.”

When you are interested in the work of a data steward, and our data steward in particular you find some insights here:

Research Data Management is essential. It is not only demanded more and more by third party funder (e.g. DFG) but it helps to stay organized and understand your data even in years to come.

Sometimes only small changes will make a big difference and help you to meet the standards described as Good Scientific Practice. And the better your data is structured the less time you need to spend searching for files or puzzling over data columns – and you have more time for your research.

At CRC1382, we pursue research data management as a strategic goal and encourage researchers to learn about methods and tools for efficient data management and to implement them in their everyday research.

In monthly hands-on workshops, the Data Steward of CRC 1382, Catherine Gonzalez, provides practical tips on current and selected topics of the research data lifecycle, which can be tried out and applied directly. These workshops are for PhD students, Post-docs, PIs or friends of CRC1382.

You find an overview and the content of the last workshops.

This is an overview of the newsletters for the CRC 1382 in which regularly topics regarding (good) research data managements are discussed.

The information provided are selected by the data steward Catherine Gonzalez.
They are tailored to meet the standards and requirements of the UKA and RWTH.
